Insert Object In Excel Not Showing Icon

Not exactly intuitive..and even then can't just insert a pdf as it is. Never mind. Had to insert it as text the pdf was actually a building plan which then went over two pages in the word document. Couldn't see any way to resize it. I've given up. Inserting it as an object just made a link to the document. Not much use on a printed document.

A co-worker is having a problem with icons when she tries to embed a file in Excel 2010. We have to routinely embed files in Excel when preparing reports for customers mostly PDF files.
