Raspberry Pi Pico Gpio
The Raspberry Pi Pico pinout shows that it has a total of 40 pins including GND and Vcc pins. The pins can be categorized as Power, ground, UART, GPIO, PWM, ADC, SPI, I2C, system control, and Debugging pins. Unlike the Raspberry Pi computer board series, GPIO pins present on the Pico board have multiple functions.
The Raspberry Pi Pico is a special model in many ways. It's not a computer like other models and the GPIO pins are placed differently, with 20 pins on each side of the board. If you want to use the pins, you'll need some guidance to know what each pin is associated to.

Learn how to use the 26 programmable GPIOs on the Raspberry Pi Pico and Pico W boards to connect peripherals like LEDs, motors, and sensors. See the pinout diagrams, functions, and interfaces of each pin.
GPIO Pins. Raspberry Pi Pico exposes 26 multi-function GPIO pins from a total of 36 GPIO pins available in RP2040 microcontroller. Out of these 26 pins, 23 pins are digital pins, and only 3 pins have analog read capability. These digital pins are marked as GP0, GP1, and up to GP22. GP23, GP24, and GP25 are not exposed on the pinout.
It's standard for platforms like the Raspberry Pi Pico microcontrollers in general to have a set of pins called GPIO. In the diagram above you can see that the Pico has 40 total pins, and 26 of them are classified as GPIO. If you look purely at the numbers the pins title GP go from 0 to 28, so I initially assumed there were 29 pins available.

Raspberry Pi Pico Rev3 board. 2.1. Raspberry Pi Pico pinout The Pico pinout has been designed to directly bring out as much of the RP2040 GPIO and internal circuitry function as possible, while also providing a suitable number of ground pins to reduce EMI Electro Magnetic Interference and signal crosstalk.
