Jean-Baptiste de la Salle, the founder of the De La Salle Brothers. Signum Fidei was established in Malta in the late 1970s by the late Br. Louis Camilleri with an initial group of teachers. In the following years five more groups were formed. Members undergo a period of formation lasting at least two years and then they became consecrated members, renewing their consecration every year on Trinity Sunday, together with the Brothers.

The Coat of Arms of the De La Salle Brothers features a shining star with the motto quotSignum Fideiquot Sign of Faith on a blue background. The star represents the Divine Child and the Brothers' mission to educate the poor, while the motto expresses their unity and fidelity to their founder.
