Steve Smith was born in 1968 to the Kwagiulth Nation of Campbell River, BC. He has been actively carving and painting since 1987. Steve was initially taught by his father, the late artist Harris Smith, in the Oweekeno and Kwakwaka'wakw art form, and later branched out into his own innovative and distinct style.
