About General Boy

General Boy is a character created around 1975 by new wave band Devo. He is usually seen portrayed by Robert Mothersbaugh, Sr., 12 the father of Devo's lead singer Mark Mothersbaugh, former drummer Jim Mothersbaugh, and lead guitarist Bob Mothersbaugh.

He talks a bit about his granddaughter, Alex, being in the DEVO offshoot band Visiting Kids. When asked about his son Mark's artwork, the elder Mothersbaugh describes his son as a quotgeniusquot and later describes one of his fondest memories as seeing his sons quotentertainingquot on television for the first time.

General Boy, father of Booji Boy, is another of Devo 's characters. General Boy first appeared in the short film The Truth About De-Evolution, in the segment before Jocko Homo. In this segment, he recieves papers from his son Booji Boy, and says to us, quotIn the past this information has been surpressed, but now it can be told. Every man, woman, and mutant shall know the truth about devolution

General Boy, played by Robert Mothersbaugh, Sr., father of Mark and Bob Mothersbaugh, serves as a representation and parody of authority figures, though General Boy is on the side of Devo. He made his first appearance in The Truth About De-Evolution.
